Life , a level playing field
Yesterday , i was watching discovery plus. There i came across an episode of 'The jewels of wild ' . It was a like any other episode showing animals running to have food and to save themselves from becoming food.
Then , i came across a fact which was truly mesmerizing. So, there was a lion chasing a young giraffe. Now, the fact was that lions never chase an adult giraffe because there kicks are powerful enough go bring a lion down.
Woah!! Albeit , a simple looking fact but if we ponder upon this deeply it is truly an eye opener.
We often complain for things, for having less than others , for being less privileged than others and so on. But, my dear friend , like this small example from nature , a giraffe might not be privileged enough to have a lion's might but it too is blessed enough to have a strong kick. Similarly, an ant is not privileged enough to have a giant shape and size but it is powerful enough to make an elephant dance.
These very small and day to day examples prove that , no matter how 'under privileged ' we consider ourselves , we all are blessed with enough might so as to make us carve our ways through. All that is required is to look inside and search for that might.
When i was young , i too use to complaint about having less beautiful dresses, less pompous bday parties but today when i look back i realise how blessed i was , all those moments of "having less" actually taught me what is truly necessary and how to be economical in my choices. Today , i dont prefer a pompous bday party , i would rather like to invest that money in something more productive such as buying myself new water colours and canvas ( this in no way mean that bday parties are bad , its just that for me they are ranked lower in my preference list ).
Let me tell you something. When i went to Ramjas , i had a sense of inferiority . Because i use to feel that my other class mates our more privileged to have studied in big schools and belong to well off families. I considered them far superior to me beacuse they had better english speaking skills (now i feel stupid of myself ! ) . However , there are certain things i too was blessed with (which at that time i overlooked) such as , being from a middle class family i was well aware of middle class life , their problems, their mindset . Now this is a great tool for somebody like me who want to pursue a career in public policy. And even now when i am preparing for civil services, it is way easier for me to understand and apply a lot of concepts owing to my rural background. You see in this years prelims examination , i was able to solve a question on kisan cresit card scheme because my own maternal family is a beneficiary to it.
And once a friend of mine beautifully summed up , " रब दे घर सदा न्याय है । " , justice is always served at god's doorstep. All it requires is an effort from our side to see positives of everything and have faith.
And yes, it is perfectly fine to have negative thoughts and perspectives , however what is more important is to have an urge of discovering truth better and beyond our understanding of it.
You have beautifully summed up essence of life. Every privilege we cherish, every inferiority complex we subject ourselves to, and every perception we have about our past, present and future, is all but our imagination. Truth is not what we think we have or we do not, truth actually is what we search for eternally. This exercise of thinking and being less but doing and searching more will definitely give us what we don't know yet, but life might have to offer.
